Mostert elated with young sons at camp after COVID season

There might not be many people happier than 49ers running back Raheem Mostert right now.

During a recent practice, he was joined by his adorable children, Gunnar and Neek. The two mini-Mosterts were walking around with helmets on and it was the cutest thing you will see all day.

This was extra special for Mostert, who missed out on being with his family last season.

Last season, Mostert spoke emotionally about his struggles being away from his family. The circumstances that the COVID-19 restrictions brought to the NFL had him reminding those that it’s more than just a game.

“I just want people to understand that, it's just not football players, it's the whole organization, it's everybody,” Mostert said in November after a 49ers’ win against the Los Angeles Rams. “People have to make sacrifices out here, I sacrificed to leave my family behind so that way I can make a living for them."

The 49ers especially had it tough, when late in the season, Santa Clara County banned all high school, collegiate and professional sports from practicing or competing. That meant having to play home games in Arizona, which meant even more time away from loved ones.

Mostert had many conversations with his wife, Devon, heading into the 2020 season on whether or not he even wanted to play. Devon was pregnant at the time with Neek, and Gunnar was just 1 years old at the time. Despite the crying and worries, they agreed he needed to play and provide for the family.

But that was then. For now, Mostert gets to enjoy the time with his babies during training camp.

He quote-tweeted photos of him with Gunnar and Neek saying, "Thank you for capturing one of the greatest moments of my life!"

His son Gunnar in particular might be having the time of his life. He’s a big Jimmy Garoppolo fan.

Back in June, he sported a Jimmy G T-shirt with his famous “Feels great, baby,” tagline attached to it. Gunnar simply pointed at the quarterback’s face on the tiny shirt and said “That’s Jimmy!”

We don’t have to tell you how elated Mostert must feel. You can see it in his face.
