Warriors' Steph Curry diagnosed with flu, but doesn't have coronavirus

Steph Curry won't play Saturday against the 76ers due to the flu, the Warriors announced roughly two hours before tip-off.

The Warriors also made sure to point out that Curry is showing no signs of the coronavirus.

"He has no specific risk factors for COVID-19," the team said in a statement.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters during his pregame availability that Curry was tested for the coronavirus.

"I believe so," Kerr said when pressed by a reporter if Curry had specifically been tested for the virus.

Curry had been ruled out earlier on Saturday due to an illness when the Warriors issued their 10:30 a.m. injury report.

Curry made his long-awaited return to the Warriors' lineup on Thursday and played 27 minutes against the Raptors. He finished with 23 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. It was his first game since breaking his left hand on Oct. 30 against the Phoenix Suns.

Across the country, professional sports teams have been implementing additional measures to help combat the coronavirus outbreak. The Warriors announced Friday that they were adding cleaning staff, hand sanitizer and extra soap throughout Chase Center.

Late Friday night, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported, citing sources, that the NBA sent a memo to teams preparing them for the possibility that games will be played with only "essential staff" in attendance, meaning no fans would be allowed into arenas.

The Warriors' next game is on Tuesday at home against the Clippers.
