The Sharks acquired goalie Devan Dubnyk from the Minnesota Wild on Monday in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round draft pick. San Jose also receives Minnesota's 2022 seventh-round pick as part of the trade.
The Athletic's Michael Russo was the first to report the trade. It is the second trade between the two teams on Monday after the Sharks acquired forward Ryan Donato from the Wild for a 2021 third-round pick earlier in the day.
"Devan has been one of the League's top goaltenders for many years and after playing so many years in the Western Conference, is someone our hockey staff is very familiar with," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said in a team statement. "As we head into what will surely be a unique season, his acquisition gives us a high-quality and experienced tandem of netminders."

Dubnyk, 34, is coming off a down season in which he went 12-15-2 with an .890 save percentage and 3.35 goals-against average. The 11-year veteran has played the most minutes of any NHL goaltender since making his debut for the Wild on Jan. 15, 2015.

Entering the final year of his contract, Dubnyk now will form a goaltending tandem in San Jose with holdover Martin Jones. He is owed $2.5 million in salary and carries a $4.333 million cap hit, but Minnesota is retaining 50 percent of his remaining contract as part of the trade. So, the Sharks will pay him $1.25 million and carry a $2.17 million cap hit for Dubnyk next season.
