NFL Draft 2020: 49ers trade No. 13 pick to Bucs for No. 14, No. 117

The 49ers entered Thursday night with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but they didn't make a selection there.

Instead, they traded that pick and a seventh-rounder to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the No. 14 and No. 117 selections.

As NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco wrote before the draft, the 49ers likely had six players they would have felt comfortable taking at No. 13. Tristan Wirfs was on that list, but the 49ers decided to gain another draft asset in the trade with the Bucs, who used the pick on the Iowa offensive tackle.

The 49ers following by taking South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw at No. 14.

The 49ers did not have a fourth-round pick until acquiring No. 117 from the Bucs. They had acquired the No. 13 pick from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for defensive lineman DeForest Buckner last month, and essentially replaced him by selecting Kinlaw.
