2019 NFL Draft: 49ers should pick Nick Bosa at No. 2, Peter King says

The 2019 NFL Draft is less than three weeks away. Between now and then, there will be just as many smokescreens as real information out in the public.

Behind closed doors, though, big boards are coming together and teams are zeroing in on their top targets.

Based on what he's learned, NBC Sports' Peter King hasn't put together a mock draft, but something a bit different. King went through all 32 picks on Monday morning and laid out what he would do with the selection.

Here's what King would do with the 49ers on the clock at No. 2 overall.

Nick Bosa, EDGE, Ohio State

With the Cardinals expected to select quarterback Kyler Murray with the top pick in the draft, Bosa is the favorite to land in the 49ers' lap. In that case, it's a no-brainer to King.

"Buckner, in 2018, was the first Niner to have a double-digit sack season in six years. Bosa’s been injured seriously in two of his last four football seasons, so he doesn’t come without risk. But he’s the right pick here," King wrote.

Bosa, 6-foot-4 and 263 pounds, recorded 17.5 sacks and 29 tackles for loss in 29 career games at Ohio State. He also totaled 77 tackles, two forced fumbles, and two passes defensed.

The fact that the 49ers have selected a defensive lineman with their top pick in three out of the last four years doesn't matter. They have to put more pressure on the quarterback and Bosa seems like he could be a perfect fit.
