As the Warriors prepare to reboot their dynasty after its pause year, Golden State is looking to surround Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins with the requisite role players required to contend for a title.
Among the names that keep popping up is Phoenix Suns guard Kelly Oubre Jr., who the Warriors reportedly have interest in trying to acquire via trade, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell.
"The name that keeps popping up when you talk to people is Kelly Oubre," Friedell said Wednesday on "The Jump" (h/t Bleacher Report's Joseph Zucker) "Can they get him in? What would they have to give up? They have the trade exception for Andre Iguodala as well that expires here in a little bit."

Oubre would be an ideal fit for a Warriors team that is in need of versatile wings who can defend multiple positions and shoot the three. Aside from Thompson and Wiggins, the Warriors options at wing are limited to Juan Toscano-Anderson and Eric Paschall. Oubre, while on an expiring contract, would give the Warriors the wing boost they are searching for as they look to catapult back into contention.
The 24-year-old Oubre has played well for the Suns since coming over in a trade from the Washington Wizards. Since arriving in Phoenix, Oubre is averaging 17.9 points per game while shooting 34.1 percent from three. He also has the added edge to his personality that should, in theory, fit a title-contending team well.

While the Warriors do have the $17.2 million trade exception to use, Golden State reportedly only will use it if a "special" circumstance arises. Couple that with the fact that it might take more than just the trade exception to get Oubre away from Phoenix and the Warriors find themselves at a roadblock.

It's unlikely they would want to include the No. 2 pick in a deal for Oubre, who is on an expiring contract. Would they do it in a pick swap for Phoenix's No. 10 overall pick? It depends on who the Warriors truly are attached to atop the draft.
Expect the Warriors to be attached to a number of trade targets as the draft and free agency approaches. With Curry and Thompson back and healthy, the Warriors will look at every option possible to give them the best shot at unseating the Los Angeles Lakers atop the NBA.
