Train joins NFC Championship entertainment

Bay Area rock trio Train, who performed at the San Francisco Giants 2011 Opening Day, will take the stage prior to the 49ers NFC Championship with the New York Giants.

SANTA CLARA -- The San Francisco 49ers announced a special entertainment addition for Sundays NFC Championship game at Candlestick Park.

Bay Area pop rock trio Train will perform on the field as part of the pre-game entertainment extravaganza.

Train, which was founded in 1994, has been nominated for eight Grammy Awards, winning three, including for Best Pop Performance for their hit single Hey, Soul Sister. The band will perform its popular hit Save Me San Francisco prior to the game.

Train joins other award winning performers Kristin Chenoweth (National Anthem) and Brad Paisley (halftime show) at the NFC Championship game.

The 49ers host the New York Giants at 3:30 p.m. PT. U.S. Bank FlexPerks & Derby of San Francisco are the 49ers postseason game sponsors.

49ers signing six-year NFL vet for kicker competition with Moody

The game is sold out and will be televised nationally on Fox. The winner will represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLVI on February 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
