NFL playoff scenarios: Who 49ers play if they win or lose vs. Seahawks

The Green Bay Packers’ victory Monday night over the Minnesota Vikings brought the 49ers’ playoff picture into clear focus entering Week 17.

The 49ers wrap up the regular season on Sunday night at the Seattle Seahawks with the NFC West title on the line. If the 49ers win, they will claim their first division title since 2012.

The 49ers would also wrap up home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with a victory against Seattle.

The 49ers-Seahawks loser will enter the playoffs as the No. 5 seed and will play the wild-card round of the playoffs at the winner of the NFC East.

The Packers’ 23-10 victory on Monday means Green Bay clinches the NFC North title, while the Vikings are locked into the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.

Here are the playoff scenarios for the 49ers entering Week 17:

If the 49ers win at Seattle:

They will be NFC West champions and the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. The 49ers would open the playoffs on Saturday, Jan. 11, or Sunday, Jan. 12, at Levi’s Stadium.

The 49ers would either face the Vikings -- if they win their playoff opener -- or the winner of the Seahawks’ game against either the Dallas Cowboys or Philadelphia Eagles.

If the 49ers lose at Seattle:

They will be the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs and will go on the road against the NFC East champion on Saturday, Jan. 4, or Sunday, Jan. 5.

If the Eagles beat the New York Giants OR Washington beats the Cowboys, the 49ers will open the playoffs at Philadelphia.

If the Eagles lose and the Cowboys win, the 49ers will open the playoffs at Dallas.
