Tejada, signed to a one-year deal by the Giants in the offseason, ranged to his right to field a ball in the third inning of Monday's game and doubled over in pain after failing to field the ball cleanly.
Trainer Dave Groeschner and manager Bruce Bochy came out to examine Tejada, who then walked off the field and was replaced in the lineup by Brandon Crawford.
Tejada, 37, is hitting .242 with four home runs and 26 RBI this season with San Francisco.
