With two outs and runners on first and third in the top of the fourth inning, Mercedes squared around to bunt on the first pitch of the at-bat against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Anderson.
We use the term "bunt attempt" loosely, because, well ... just watch.

Mercedes squared around to bunt and pulled the bat back before appearing to attempt a slap-shot the other way. Not even Giants manager Gabe Kapler could prevent himself from laughing at the bizarre moment.

Fortunately for Mercedes and the Giants, his opposite-field approach worked two pitches later as he roped a single to right field, scoring Evan Longoria from third and tying the game at one apiece.
