OAKLAND – The Oakland A’s announced today that infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara has been claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds.
Alcantara was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on June 9 for Chris Coghlan and batted .211 with a double and two RBI in 16 games over four stints with the A’s.
He missed the final 10 games of the season with a sprained left thumb.

Alcantara spent the balance of the season with Triple-A Iowa, Triple-A Nashville and Single-A Stockton, and hit a combined .278 with 22 doubles, 11 triples, 12 home runs, 56 RBI and 32 stolen bases in 108 games.
