SANTA CLARA -- The San Francisco 49ers head into Sunday's match-up against the Los Angeles Rams with a surprise on their inactives list.
That list includes cornerback Richard Sherman, who was limited all week with a calf injury. As was expected, both wide receiver Dante Pettis and defensive back Jimmie Ward will be inactive against the Rams.
Ahkello Witherspoon, who cleared the concussion protocol earlier in the week, will start in Ward’s place. Greg Mabin is likely to start in place of Sherman. Rookie cornerback Tarvarius Moore might also see action.
