The conference semifinals are taking shape.
The No. 3 Minnesota Timberwolves were the first team to win a first-round series in 2024 NBA playoffs, eliminating the star-studded No. 6 Phoenix Suns in four games. The Wolves' sweep marked the franchise's first playoff series win since 2004.
Two more Western Conference heavyweights have since joined Minnesota in Round 2. The No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder impressively swept the No. 8 New Orleans Pelicans, while the No. 2 defending champion Denver Nuggets bested the No. 7 Los Angeles Lakers in a tightly contested five-game series.

Over in the Eastern Conference, the top-seeded Boston Celtics were the first team to advance. Boston got some revenge on the Miami Heat, taking down the reigning conference champs in five games.
