Former Giants second baseman Jeff Kent will join the club in spring training as a special instructor.

Giants vice president of baseball operations Bobby Evans told the San Francisco Chronicle that, "(Kent) said he'd be honored. He intimated he would be thrilled."
Kent played six seasons for the Giants (1997-2002), helping the team reach the World Series in 2002. He hit .297 with 175 home runs in a Giants uniform.
In 17 major league seasons, Kent hit .290, with 377 career home runs.
