Warriors' Kevon Looney back to practicing, not ready for game action

SAN FRANCISCO -- For a full four weeks, Kevon Looney has been rehabbing his body and watching the Warriors. One is progressing faster than the other.

Looney went through a full practice Sunday, for the first time since late October, but will not play Monday night against the Thunder -- and is not expected to be game-ready before the five-game road trip that begins next Friday in Miami.

“He’s not ready to play, but he’s pretty good in terms of his rehab,” coach Steve Kerr said Sunday after practice. “Now it’s more a matter of conditioning and getting more reps on the floor before we put him into a game.

“The hope is this upcoming road trip.”

Looney is coping with a condition referred to as neuropathy, which generally results in certain nerves or areas of the body malfunctioning. In his case, the symptoms were felt mostly in his hamstrings.

The fifth-year center/forward concedes there always is a chance the symptoms might return but sees no impediment as of now.

“I expect to be back on the road trip,” Looney said. “I just want to get a couple more practices in, continue to test it out, get some more reps in.”
