Warriors hire new Director of Sports Medicine and Performance

For the past three seasons, performance therapist Chelsea Lane was an unsung hero for the Warriors. Lane didn't make headlines, but she was a big free agency loss for the champs as the former head of the medical staff.

Lane left the Warriors in July to take a similar position in Atlanta.

Nearly one month later, the Warriors are hiring Lane's replacement. The Warriors are finalizing a deal with physiotherapist Rick Celebrini to lead the Warriors' medical staff.

Celebrini is currently the head of sports medicine and science for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer. In his playing days, Celebrini played for the Canadian U-20 national team and also played professionally for the Vancouver 86ers.

The New York Times was first to report the news.
