Report: Klay ‘feared' to have significant Achilles injury

Warriors star Klay Thompson suffered a leg injury Wednesday, and it's feared that he suffered a "significant Achilles injury," Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported, citing sources.

Haynes and ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported that Thompson will undergo an MRI on Thursday morning.

Shelburne also reported that several members of the Warriors' organization will fly down to Los Angeles.

Stadium's Shams Charania first reported, citing sources, that the fear was Thompson hurt his heel.

"I'm told the fear is that it is a heel injury," Charania said. "Obviously any time you injure the heel, you have fears, maybe it's an Achilles, for Klay Thompson, he went to the sideline, I'm told, and he was getting work done in that heel area, and after that, he limped off and didn't put any pressure on his lower leg."

An Achilles injury would be a brutal blow for Thompson, who's coming off a torn ACL that kept him out for the entire 2019-20 season.

Obviously more tests need to be conducted before an official diagnosis can be confirmed, but any injury to the Achilles likely would sideline Thompson for another significant period.
