Looney reveals surprise Warriors teammate with ‘sneaky bounce'

The Warriors have a few mesmerizing dunkers on their team, including the All-Star Dunk Contest runner-up (Juan Toscano-Anderson) and a high-flying rookie (Jonathan Kuminga). However, despite the Warriors having some crazy leapers, it might surprise some fans who leads the team in dunks.

Center Kevon Looney not only leads the Dubs in dunks this season, but he is also 30th in the NBA in that category with 81 flushes, only three behind LeBron James. Kuminga is second on the team, with 70 dunks.

Despite only being 26-years-old, Looney is considered one of the grizzled "old" veterans on the team. Injuries have limited his agility over the years as well, so some of the youngest players on the team do not expect the Warriors center to be able to throw down with authority.

"It is funny. My first few years I got a lot of dunks. And I had a couple years where I didn't dunk as much, and it happened when I got a lot of new teammates, the young guys on the team," Looney said on the latest episode of the Dubs Talk podcast. "So they are acting shocked that I can dunk, and I'm like 'come on now, I'm not known as an athlete but I can still sneak up there sometimes.' They be shocked when I get dunks now, and I got to show the young guys I can dunk."

Looney seems to be over the durability issues he once had earlier in his career, and with that, he is excited to show off his rejuvenated, yet subtle, athleticism.

"I actually challenged Moses [Moody] to a dunk contest. We still got to set a date on it," Looney said while laughing. "I got Moses on my list, I think I can beat him."

"I got Steph [Curry]. I got to leave Jonathan [Kuminga] and Juan [Toscano-Anderson] alone. Gary [Payton II] as well. Everybody else I think I'm right on their level," Looney proclaimed with a chuckle.

Looney's dunking ability might surprise some folks, but Looney himself thinks there is one guy in particular on the team who is underrated when it comes to his hops.

"I think everybody knows [Andrew Wiggins]. But someone that might surprise you is Draymond [Green]. Like the other day he did this like reverse baby windmill, and he's like 'anything on the basketball court I can do, Loon' and I am vouching for him, because whenever he says he can do something, he usually does it," Looney said.

"You'd be shocked at some of the dunks he can have, he might dunk on somebody in the game and I'll be like 'I haven't seen you dunk all year and you just pulled this out'. He has sneaky bounce."
