Ever wonder what Warriors star Steph Curry’s ‘TCC’ tattoo means?

Editor's note: Twice a week during this sports hiatus, we'll answer questions that Bay Area sports fans long have debated in "Ever Wonder?" This installment: What's the story behind Steph Curry's 'TCC' tattoo?

Steph Curry left a stamp on the NBA after becoming the first player in NBA history to be elected MVP by a unanimous vote during the 2015-16 season. He also is, without a doubt, the best shooter to ever play the game.

But he has one stamp of his own -- well, several -- but the first one he ever received was a tattoo on his left wrist that reads “TCC,” with his No. 30 underneath.

What’s the meaning behind it?

“The first one I got is the one on my wrist from when I was at Davidson,” Curry told NBC Sports Bay Area. “Myself and five of my teammates, we got it and it says ‘TCC’ which stands for Trust, Commitment, Care, that was the mantra that our coach Bob McKillop preached every single day from the time he showed up to Davidson to now, 28 years later.”

"Trust, Commitment, and Care" also were displayed on a board in which the Davidson players would tap for motivation.

McKillop was there from the beginning, when words like “undersized” and "too skinny" were associated with Curry. He was there when Steph was described as someone who would never set foot on an NBA court.

But Curry never stopped playing, and McKillop helped turn Steph into the player we get to see to this day. That, of course, was after the coach had to convince his mother, Sonya, that Davidson was the right choice.

And the rest is history.

“It was about developing the total man on and off the court, so we all, before my junior year, we got it,'' the six-time All-Star said. “That just takes me back to a place where I kinda came to as a basketball player and a person before I took on this NBA journey.”

We are so lucky he did.
