The Giants officially added a major piece to their free-agent acquisition list in slugger Jorge Soler.
Soler and the Giants have agreed to a three-year contract worth $42 million, San Francisco announced. The news first was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser last Monday.

Soler will receive a signing bonus of $9 million plus salaries of $7 million in 2024, $13 million in 2025, and $13 million in 2026, per the Giants. He will make an $80,000 donation to the Giants Community Fund in 2024 and a $65,000 donation each season from 2025-2026.
Soler, 31, is coming off one of the best campaigns of his 11-year career, belting 36 home runs with a .250/.341/.512 slash line for the Marlins in 2023 -- earning his first MLB All-Star nod.
The outfielder/designated hitter earned World Series MVP honors with the Atlanta Braves in 2021, hitting .300 with three home runs and six RBI in a six-game series win over the Houston Astros.
The Giants, who needed to add some much-needed power to their lineup, achieved just that with the Soler deal.
