The Sharks' excitement about getting the chance to select William Eklund seventh overall in the 2021 NHL Draft was evident both in the moments after they selected him, and in general manager Doug Wilson and the front office's media availability following the draft.
During the organization's prospect scrimmage earlier this month, the team had Eklund mic'd up for his first competition against the rest of the Sharks' new young additions. Clearly, that excitement the front office has is mutual for the 18-year-old.

You can hear just how fired up Eklund is to be playing in a Sharks uniform, even if it is just for a scrimmage.
"Let's f-----g go yeah," Eklund exclaimed to a fellow prospect.

Eklund was one of the top-ranked prospects going into the '21 draft, and the Sharks were extremely vocal about their excitement that he fell to them at No. 7.
