The 49ers are hosting Florida State wide receiver Auden Tate on a pre-visit Wednesday at the team’s training complex in Santa Clara, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area.
Tate (6-foot-5, 228 pounds) declared for the NFL Draft after catching 40 passes for 548 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior.
He finished his college career with five receptions for 84 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-13 victory over Southern Mississippi in the Independence Bowl.

Tate has the height and long arms to be a red-zone target, but the biggest question is his ability to separate. His draft stock seemingly slipped considerably at the NFL Scouting Combine. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.68 seconds – the second-slowest time of the 37 wide receivers who ran.
