The Chicago Bulls have assigned forward Mike Dunleavy to the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League, pursuant to the Flexible Assignment Rule, the team announced Monday.

Dunleavy has yet to appear in a game with Chicago this season after undergoing a low back microdiscectomy procedure on Sept. 25, 2015.

This marks the first time in franchise history that Santa Cruz has been assigned a player via the Flexible Assignment Rule.

Dunleavy was taken by the Warriors with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. In four-plus seasons in Oakland, the former Duke star averaged 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

On Jan. 16, 2007, the Warriors traded Dunleavy, Ike Diogu, Keith McLeon and Troy Murphy to Indiana for Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell.
