Steph Curry sent a clear message to the Warriors' front office with his Media Day comments on Monday, emphasizing a sense of urgency to pursue another NBA title. Warriors general manager Bob Myers understands Curry's sentiment, but explained that there always is a pressure to win when you have a player of Curry's caliber on your roster.
"When you get a guy like that, you feel urgency really all the time," Myers said Monday from Chase Center. "I felt urgency when I got the job and you look at him as a player, as a guy and you say 'we've got to give this guy a chance and surround him with as much talent as we can' and luckily we were able to do that for hopefully a good chunk of his career and we're going to try to keep doing it, that's not going to change."
Although Curry will turn 34 before the end of the 2021-22 NBA season, Myers isn't ready to say that the two-time NBA MVP is nearing the end of his historic career.

"He had one of his best seasons last year, I don't necessarily personally prescribe that he's tailing off or he's only got a couple more years, I think he's got more than that," Myers said. "Especially if you all got to watch him in our facility, he's probably one of the hardest if not the hardest working guys on the team. Mentally, he's never been sharper."
Myers got some good evidence of Curry's longevity last season, when he won the NBA scoring title and finished third in MVP voting.
Trade rumors have hovered above the front office throughout the offseason, as players like Ben Simmons and Bradley Beal were floated as potential blockbuster additions to increase the Warriors' odds of bringing home a championship.

Myers told reporters that the roster as it stands likely will remain through the start of the season, but didn't take anything off the table depending on how the early part of the year shakes out.
“If you're looking for some clarity, I expect this roster to be our roster,” Myers said. “Certainly, in the near-term and probably heading into the season, and we'll see how everything goes.
“But that's what we would do, anyway, separate from rumors, separate from thoughts. When our team looks like it needs a change, that's when we start to be a little more urgent. But at this point I like the team. I want to see what the team looks like as constructed. I've been waiting for that for a long time, mostly because of injuries.”
Steph clearly remains in the heart of his prime, and the Warriors know they must give him the best chance possible to win now.
