
Giants left-hander Barry Zito will oppose Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander in Game 1 of the World Series, Bruce Bochy told the Associated Press.
Zito kept the Giants' season alive by throwing 7.2 shutout innings in the Giants' Game 5 win in St. Louis.
During the regular season, Zito posted a 4.15 ERA and won 15 games, the most since he signed with the Giants before the 2007 season.
