On Dec. 5, 2015, the Giants agreed to terms on a five-year deal with Jeff Samardzija.
When Samardzija was introduced to the Bay Area media on Dec. 11, San Francisco hadn't yet signed Johnny Cueto.
On Thursday night, Samardzija weighed in on the addition.

"Outstanding," he told KNBR 680. "I've actually played against Johnny for a long time ... I've seen plenty of Johnny. He's always had electric stuff, and always had a knack for how to pitch -- get double play balls when he needs them, get strikeouts when he needs them."
Samardzija's Cubs faced off against Cueto's Reds a lot over both pitchers' tenures in the NL Central.
Cueto is known for being somewhat of a "different guy," and Samardzija likes that.
"He has fun out there," Samardzija explained. "I think the fan base is gonna see a guy out there that loves to play the game. He's cinematic in a way. He's the show. He's playing in "The Show," and he's definitely that. I love watching him.

"He's a heck of a competitor, and he leaves it all out there. Another guy that any given a day is gonna throw up nine innings for you, which is huge in this game, especially for the bullpen late in September and into October. Johnny is definitely one of those guys who can eat up innings, and do it quickly."
Giants FanFest will be held on Feb. 13, but Samardzija may not be there because he and his wife are expecting a baby.
