While the Athletics’ 2022 season hasn’t been the most exciting, MLB dropped a bombshell on Wednesday that brings some exhilaration back to the Coliseum.

The A’s will play their first six games at home, opening against the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game set. This marks the eighth time the A’s have played the Angels on Opening Day and the fifth time they have hosted them.

Oakland will then welcome the Cleveland Guardians for a trio of games.

Overall, the A’s will play 81 games at home next year and will welcome some clubs to the Coliseum for the first time.

The Green and Gold will face all 15 NL teams next year, including a series against eight NL teams at home.

Oakland will play a pair of two-game series versus the San Francisco Giants and a three-game series with the remaining 14 teams.

Along with facing the team on the other side of the Bay Bridge, the A’s will host the Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

But it doesn't end there.

The A's will play on their own turf for some popular holidays. They will host the Rangers on Mother's Day (May 14), the Braves on Memorial Day (May 29), the Phillies on Father's Day (June 18), and the Toronto Blue Jays on Labor Day (Sept. 4).

The annual Bay Bridge Series will continue in 2023 with the A's traveling to Oracle Park for a two-game series beginning July 25. Oakland will then host the Giants for a two-game series beginning Aug. 5.

Sure, there's still plenty of baseball to be played this year, but it's never too early to get hyped over an upcoming historic MLB season.
