The moment the Los Angeles Rams traded for quarterback Matthew Stafford, one thing became clear: The Houston Texans are going to get an arm, a leg and the whole body in a Deshaun Watson trade.
The Rams traded two first-round draft picks, a third-round pick and 26-year-old QB Jared Goff to the Detroit Lions for Stafford, who turns 33 this week. Watson is just 25 and a younger, better player than Stafford. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Sunday that no trade package has been enticing enough for the Texans so far.
"The Texans, to my knowledge, have shut down all overtures for a Watson trade, since he requested one two weeks ago," Breer wrote. "But until this thing is settled, calls are gonna keep coming."

Watson recently deleted everything Texans-related from his social media. He has made it clear he wants nothing else to do with an incompetent franchise. But it of course would take a huge trade offer for Houston to let him go.
Following the Stafford-Goff trade, the Houston Chronicle's John McClain tweeted Sunday morning that the Texans would want two first-round draft picks, two second-round picks and two defensive starters for Watson.
The 49ers reportedly never offered their first-round pick for Stafford. What would they be willing to give up for Watson? They should go the Rams route and hand over as many draft picks as the Texans want. But it's hard to see them including Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, their young defensive stars, in a trade package.

San Francisco 49ers
When healthy, the 49ers are in win-now mode. But they now have the worst starting QB in NFC West. They're only way of upgrading over Jimmy Garoppolo is to go all-in on Watson or do what they can to pick a top quarterback in the 2021 NFL Draft. At this point, it very well might be Garoppolo's team again this year.
That might not be something 49ers fans want to hear, but they might have to accept it.
