Fred Warner already proving to be a tackle, turnover machine for 49ers

Welcome to the NFL, Fred Warner.

The rookie linebacker made a huge touchdown-saving play Sunday in the second quarter of the 49ers' season opener against the Vikings in Minnesota.

As Dalvin Cook broke tackles and raced free for 15 yards, Warner chased down the running back and punched out the ball. Richard Sherman recovered the fumble at the San Francisco 29-yard line to give the 49ers possession and stall a potential Vikings scoring drive.

Warner, the 49ers' third-round draft pick, has been a tackling machine in his first NFL start.

After getting the ball back for the 49ers, Sherman handed it to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, looking for the 49ers to tie the score as they trailed 10-3.
