49ers' Deebo Samuel not scared by Jamal Adams' trade to rival Seahawks

Deebo Samuel wanted Jamal Adams on the 49ers.

Instead, Samuel now has to face Adams at least twice per season. The All-Pro safety was traded by the New York Jets to the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday for two first-round draft picks, a third-round draft pick and safety Bradley McDougald.

But the thought of lining up against Adams doesn't scare Samuel.

Two weeks ago, when a report surfaced that the 49ers and Seahawks had inquired about the availability of Adams, Samuel posted this on his Instagram Story.

The 49ers reportedly were one of seven teams Adams wanted to be traded to. But any deal for Adams would have cost a lot of future assets, as we can see with what the Seahawks gave up. Not to mention, Adams wants a long-term contract extension. The 49ers don't exactly have a surplus of salary-cap space to fit that kind of contract.

So despite calls from Samuel for the 49ers to acquire Adams, it probably never was going to happen.

As nice as it would have been to see Adams on the 49ers, the matchups with Samuel, tight end George Kittle and the rest of the 49ers offense in Week 8 and Week 17 are going to be must-see TV.
