Tiger Woods' return to the PGA Tour might receive a little extra fanfare next week when he pairs with NBA superstar Stephen Curry during the pro-am at the Safeway Open.
Woods announced his intentions to tee it up in Napa, Calif., last month, and he officially committed to the tournament on Friday. It will mark Woods' first appearance at Silverado Resort & Spa and his first competitive start since the 2015 Wyndham Championship nearly 14 months ago.
Woods was already set to attract massive crowds to wine country, but his marquee pairing during the Wednesday pro-am should sell a few more tickets. Curry, the two-time NBA MVP who plays for the Golden State Warriors in nearby Oakland, is an avid golfer who sports a 1.7 USGA handicap index.
