T-Mac: Klay ‘right up there' with Steph as pure shooter

Add Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady to the list of current and former NBA players who are in awe of Klay Thompson's shooting ability. When McGrady joined the latest episode of the Dubs Talk podcast, he had some very high praise for the historically great sharpshooter.

"He is considered, to me, one of the greatest shooters of all time in this league," said McGrady, the founder of Ones Basketball League, a new one-on-one basketball league.

"Klay, to score 60 points, in what, like nine dribbles? Really? That is one of the most incredible things I have ever seen or heard," McGrady recalled.

Thompson boasts a fantastic career 3-point shooting percentage of 41.7, and an almost identical 41.8 percent in the playoffs. He holds the all-time record for 3-pointers made in a regular-season game with 14, and is currently ranked third in the all-time list of 3-pointers made in the postseason.

For McGrady, when it comes to pure shooters, he thinks Thompson is comparable to his Splash Brother teammate.

"I put him right up there with Steph [Curry]," McGrady said.

Though McGrady did acknowledge that Curry is rightfully, universally considered the greatest shooter of all time.

"I know people say Steph is the greatest shooter they have ever seen, Klay Thompson is right up there," McGrady continued. "I think it is Steph because he moreso off the dribble, but he does it off the dribble or on the- it doesn't matter, whether he catches and shoots or if he has the ball in his hands."

Yet when thinking of Thompson's legacy, McGrady is quick to mention that he is not just simply a shooter, but also a fantastic defender.

"Two-way player is Klay Thompson," McGrady said. "To me, I put him up there with Kawhi Leonard and Scottie Pippen, those type guys that play both ends of the court"

At the end of the day, however, when it comes down to it, McGrady believes Thompson is eventually ticketed for the Hall of Fame, and it clearly comes down to Klay's ability to shoot the rock.

"But shooting ability, I mean, my gosh. You have to consider it with Steph, Klay, Reggie [Miller], Ray Allen, he is up there with the guys, and Larry Bird," McGrady declared. "He is in that conversation, you can't leave him out."
