In the latest installment of the semi-friendly rivalry between Steph Curry and LeBron James, the former's 37-point effort came up just short in the NBA play-in tournament Wednesday night, as the latter's deep three-pointer in the final seconds sealed a victory for the Los Angeles Lakers over the Warriors.
Frank Vogel, the Lakers' head coach, spoke after the game at Staples Center about defending against Curry's brilliance and holding off the Warriors to earn the seventh seed in the NBA playoffs.
"The guy is just flat-out unbelievable, I think he's playing as well or better than anybody's ever seen it. Steve Kerr said we were gonna throw the kitchen sink at him, and we did, and he still had 37," Vogel told reporters Wednesday night. "It's just remarkable to see what he's doing, we were fortunate to get this W, knowing that we did everything we could to slow him down and he still had 37."

The Lakers worked hard to get the ball out of Curry's hands as soon as the Warriors came across halfcourt. Compared to his 36 shot attempts in the Warriors' season finale win over the Memphis Grizzlies, Steph was held to just 23 on Wednesday night.

Trailing for much of the game, the Lakers clawed their way back late before LeBron's clutch 3-pointer with 58 seconds left put LA's lead out of reach.
Steph and the Warriors now face a winner-take-all matchup against the Grizzlies on Friday, with the eighth and final playoff spot on the line.
