Entering play on Monday, the Warriors needed either the Spurs, Thunder or Blazers to lose in order to clinch. Oklahoma City held off the Kings, but minutes later, the Rockets beat the Spurs. James Harden returned to action and led all scorers with 28 points in Houston's 109-93 win over San Antonio.
At 51-16, the Warriors sit 1.5 games behind the Rockets for the No. 1 seed. Houston holds the head-to-head tiebreaker.
