How Steph's mom reacts to turnovers instead of fining him

The good news for Steph Curry after he commits turnovers is that he’s no longer on the hook for paying a fine to his mother, Sonya.

The bad news? She texts him instead.

Curry had five turnovers in the Warriors' Game 2 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, and he joked to reporters on Friday that he was glad that his mom wasn’t at FedExForum because he “would’ve gotten an earful after the game.”

Curry, who revealed in 2015 that he owes his mom money if he commits more than two turnovers in a game, said on Friday that the “checks stopped cashing a couple of years ago.”

“But she still calls it out for sure,” Curry said.

Rather than a monetary punishment, Curry has to deal with “the embarrassment of getting a text from Mom.”

Curry has hovered around three turnovers a game for much of his career, sometimes guilty of trying to get too fancy with passing or dribbling.

With Mother’s Day on Sunday, perhaps the best gift that Curry can give his mother is a turnover-free Game 3 performance on Saturday.

Otherwise, his phone is going to be buzzing afterwards.
