Share

The 2022 Major League Baseball season is about to get underway with Spring Training looming now that the 99-day lockout is over

Spring Training camps officially opened March 13, and the first slate of games will commence on March 17. Opening Day for the regular season is April 7.

With new baseball games around the corner, these are the odds for where the 30 teams stand before the season starts, with all odds provided by our partner, PointsBet

Which MLB teams have the best odds to win their division?

The Chicago White Sox have the highest odds in any division, both American League and National League, to come out on top of their respective opponents. Oddsmakers have the White Sox winning the AL Central division at -200.

The San Francisco Giants are currently third in the NL West at +400. The Oakland Athletics are fourth in the AL West at +1500.

These teams have the best odds to win their respective division:

San Francisco Giants

Report: Soto, Mets agree to historic 15-year, $765M contract

Report: Ex-Giant Conforto, Dodgers agree to one-year contract

AL Central: Chicago White Sox, -200

AL East: New York Yankees, +200

AL West: Houston Astros, -140

NL Central: Milwaukee Brewers, -130

NL East: New York Mets, +140

NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers, -160

Prediction: The Dodgers feel like the safest bet here with San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis sidelined for at least three months. If the San Francisco Giants improve on their impressive run last season, they could challenge Los Angeles for the top spot.

Keep an eye on the AL East, though. The Toronto Blue Jays (+225), Tampa Bay Rays (+250) and Boston Red Sox (+500) are breathing down New York’s neck and any bet could pay off.

Which MLB team has the best odds of winning the American League?

The reigning American League champions Houston Astros are favored to repeat. The A's have +3500 odds. These are the top five teams favored to win the AL:

1. Houston Astros: +450

2. New York Yankees: +525

3. Chicago White Sox: +550

4. Toronto Blue Jays: +550

5. Tampa Bay Rays: +650

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Orioles have, by far, the lowest odds at +15000. Above Baltimore is a two-way tie between the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers at +4000.

Prediction: The biggest question mark is Carlos Correa’s future in Houston. If he departs, betting on the Astros is riskier. The three AL East squads can all make a run, so that will be something to monitor throughout the season.

Which MLB team has the best odds of winning the National League?

The National League has a different outlook at the top. The 2021 World Series champion Atlanta Braves are not favored at the moment. The Giants have +1100 odds. These are the top five teams favored to win the NL:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers: +275

2. New York Mets: +500

3. Atlanta Braves: +600

4. San Diego Padres: +650

5. Milwaukee Brewers: +700

The Pittsburgh Pirates (+15000) have the lowest odds in the NL.

Prediction: The Dodgers seem like another safe bet here, especially if they add more hitting to the mix. The Padres, though, may not be the best bet at the moment as aforementioned.

Which team has the best odds of winning the World Series?

The Dodgers are currently favored to take it all. The 2020 World Series champions have +600 odds to lift the Commissioner’s Trophy in 2022, while the Pirates, Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks are tied for the lowest at +25000. These are the teams with the top odds:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers: +600

2. Houston Astros: +900

3. New York Yankees: +1100

T-4. Atlanta Braves: +1200

T-4. Chicago White Sox: +1200

T-4. New York Mets: +1200

T-7. Tampa Bay Rays: +1300

T-7. Toronto Blue Jays: +1300

Prediction: The Braves (+1200 for the World Series) are tied for the fourth-highest odds. Atlanta somehow pulled off a miraculous title run last season without several key players due to injury. But with Ronald Acuña Jr. set to return to the plate soon and Matt Olson arriving via trade, the Braves’ title window is still open.
