In a flurry of roster moves on Saturday, the Oakland A's called up top prospect Franklin Barreto, designated veteran reliever Santiago Casilla for assignment, and optioned starting pitcher Daniel Mengden to Triple-A after activating him from the DL.

He's hit .212 with three homers and 10 RBI in 54 big-league plate appearances this season. Baseball America ranked Barreto the No. 43 prospect in baseball entering this season.
The 37-year-old Casilla, who signed with the A's as a free agent in 2017, lost his job as the closer last season after blowing seven saves in 23 opportunities. In 31 1/3 innings this season, he posted a 3.16 ERA and 1.21 WHIP.
Mengden, meanwhile, may get an opportunity to pitch with the Sounds over the All-Star Break. He last pitched for the A's on June 23, leaving after two innings with a sprained right foot.
Oakland also swapped a pair of right-handed relievers, calling up J.B. Wednelken and and optioning Ryan Dull.
