Giants claim reliever Ryan Dull off waivers after A's released him

The A's announced Monday the team has released right-handed pitcher Ryan Dull, who was claimed off waivers by the Giants. San Francisco also confirmed the news.

The Giants announced Dull will head straight to Triple-A Sacramento -- a place he's all too familiar with spending each season since 2015 pitching in as an opponent.

The 29-year-old boasts a 5.45 ERA pitching in the Pacific Coast League with 50 strikeouts in 39.2 innings this season with the A's Triple-A affiliate. His recent major league numbers don't exactly jump off the page with a 12.00 ERA across nine frames for the A's.

Dull went 8-9 with four saves and a 4.08 ERA in 167 relief appearances for the A's.

Earlier Monday, MLB Trade Rumors' Steve Adams reported the Giants will sign veteran pitcher Carlos Torres to a minor league deal.

It appears the team wants extra bullpen help with terms such as "NL wild-card spot" being thrown out into the universe.
