A's starter Sonny Gray is coming off the best season of his brief career.
Right fielder Josh Reddick put together a solid bounce-back season in 2015.

And with the A's looking to restock their farm system, could this winter be a time for new general manager David Forst and executive vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane to trade Gray and/or Reddick for pieces that could help them in the future?
Not so fast, according to Beane.
Beane spoke to national baseball writer Peter Gammons about the idea of trading either of the aforementioned players.

"Trading Gray is not something I think we could do. We have to put a representative product on the field, and continue to dream we get a ballpark," Beane told Gammons.
Beane made it clear he likes Gray at the top of the A's young starting rotation.
"We should have good pitching, with Gray, Jarrod Parker, Kendall Graveman, Jesse Hahn, Chris Bassitt, maybe Sean Manaea during the season. I just cannot see us trading Gray or (Josh) Reddick," Beane continued.
The A's have four more years of contractual control over the soon-to-be 26-year-old Gray. He won't reach free agency until after the 2019 season. Reddick, who will begin next season at 29 years old, is entering his final year of arbitration and baring a long-term deal with the A's, will become a free agent next winter.
Beane addressed a possible extension with Reddick during a media session on Oct. 5 after announcing promotions for himself and Forst.
“We like having Josh here. Anything in regard to (an extension) is something we’ll talk about during the winter. We anticipate Josh, at minimum, being here next year, and it would behoove us to consider keeping him here longer,” Beane said.

Starting last November when they traded Josh Donaldson, the A's have acquired a lot of prospects to replenish their farm system.
Pitchers Kendall Graveman and Sean Nolin, and shortstop Franklin Barreto were procured in the Donaldson deal. Infielder Rangel Ravelo was among four players acquired from the White Sox in the Jeff Samardzija deal. Top catching prospect Jacob Nottingham and pitching prospect Daniel Mengden came from Houston for Scott Kazmir. Pitcher Casey Meisner was acquired from the Mets for Tyler Clippard. Prized pitching prospect Sean Manaea was acquired when Ben Zobrist was shipped to the eventual-champion Royals. And the A's selected several college players at the top of the 2015 MLB Draft.
Beane was asked about the influx of young talent.
“We have some very good kids. But it will take a couple of years for them to impact us,” Beane said.
For now, though, Beane says the A's won't use Gray or Reddick to add to the list of prospects in the system.
