Sharks forward Kurtis Gabriel didn't hold back this week when asked about the events Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol.
"I think white supremacy is an epidemic. Democracy was attacked," Gabriel told reporters (h/t Sheng Peng). "I just think it's ridiculous, that's happening in 2021. We need to do something. We need to do more. If that's happening, the world is not in a good place."

Numerous arrests have been made after a mob stormed the Capitol building as lawmakers were attempting to officially certify the electoral college's votes and make Joe Biden the 46th President of the United States. A U.S. Capitol Police officer and several demonstrators died from injuries sustained during the riots.

Gabriel joined the Sharks this offseason as a two-way player following stints with multiple NHL organizations, including the Philadelphia Flyers most recently.
The 27-year-old has been outspoken on social issues throughout his professional career, as he'll be including a Pride flag emblem on his skates for this season that he unveiled at the start of Sharks training camp.
