Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has been complimented regularly throughout this offseason. It’s a byproduct of being the next big thing, a side effect he gives little, if any, attention.

As an amateur Carr idolized Favre and his confidence, wearing No. 4 all these years as homage to the Green Bay Packers great.

Favre said so Wednesday night in an interview with CSN Bay Area Giants reporter Amy Gutierrez while at AT&T Park for a 5-1 Giants victory over the Rockies.
Favre didn’t think Carr was a true gunslinger, believing the young Raiders quarterback has a bit more discipline than the name implies.

“I don't know if I consider him a gunslinger,” Favre said. “I think he's a little more polished. And I mean that with all due respect. I think he's done a tremendous job in Oakland. I like the way he plays. I think he's a little more polished. I like to watch him. A good player.”
Carr was “honored” by Crabtree’s initial comparison, and used the same term on Twitter Wednesday night to describe the fact his idol is now a fan.
Carr made the Pro Bowl in his second season, with 3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns to 13 interceptions and a 91.1 passer rating. His Raiders report to training camp on July 28, starting a campaign with expectations raised due in large part to Carr’s presence as a franchise quarterback.
