Ex-49er Eric Reid selected for seventh ‘random' drug test in 11 weeks

Water is wet, the sky is blue, and former 49ers defensive back Eric Reid was selected for another drug test by the NFL.

In his 11 weeks with the Panthers, this is the seventh time Reid has been randomly selected by the NFL drug testing program's Medical Advisor.

Reid found the note in his locker following the Panthers' loss to the Saints on Monday night.

When talking to the media after the game, Reid was not buying the idea that the selections were random.

"I've been here 11 weeks, I've been drug tested seven times," Reid told reporters in Charlotte, according to The Riot Report. "That has to be statistically impossible. I'm no mathematician, but there's no way that's right.

During the latter stages of his five-year tenure with the 49ers, Reid joined former teammate Colin Kaepernick in the protest against social injustices by taking a knee during the national anthem. Reid continued the protest after Kaepernick was released by the 49ers.

The 49ers didn't re-sign Reid following last season, and he went un-signed through the entire offseason. In September, Reid filed a greivance against the league, alleging that owners colluded to keep him out of the league because of his participation in the protests.

On Sept. 27, the Panthers signed Reid for the remainder of the 2018 season. In 11 games, he has one interception, one sack and 64 total tackles.
