Maximum Security entered the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs as a 9/2 favorite, and he was able to hold off Country House to win the biggest race of the year.
Or so we thought.
As he made the final turn Saturday, Maximum Security veered out of his lane and bumped Country House. After Maximum Security crossed the finish line No. 1, the race was reviewed. Stewards then determined that Maximum Security impeded other horses' progress, and the horse therefore was disqualified.
