Injured Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval will take batting practice on the field in St. Louis and could return by the end of the team's next homestand, manager Bruce Bochy said before Sunday's game in Milwaukee.
Bochy told reporters that he wants Sandoval to go out on a rehab assignment and get 20 at bats, but that Sandoval may get less than that if he looks ready.

Sandoval hasn't played since April 29 and was batting .313 with 14 RBI in 91 plate appearances before fracturing his hamate bone. His five home runs is still tied for the team lead, despite missing a month while recovering from hand surgery.
