Warriors sign free-agent big man, waive guard Will Cherry

The Warriors made a move on Thursday afternoon.

Golden State signed free-agent big man Deyonta Davis and waived guard Will Cherry, the team announced.

It's unclear if the contract is guaranteed, non-guaranteed, or if it's an Exhibit 10 deal (which would essentially mean he would be waived and sent to Santa Cruz).

Davis played one season at Michigan State and was selected 31st overall in the 2016 draft.

He made 36 appearances as a rookie for the Grizzlies. And over 62 games last year, he averaged 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds for Memphis.

In mid-July, he was traded to Sacramento in the deal that sent Garrett Temple to the Grizzlies. The Kings waived Davis a couple of weeks ago.

The Warriors -- who currently have 13 players under contract -- will fill the 14th spot sometime before next Tuesday's season opener.

They also have an open two-way contract to offer.
