For new Warriors forward Casspi, welcome texts ‘a dream come true'

On Tuesday morning, a report said that the Warriors were "in talks" with Omri Casspi.

About five hours later, he reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Warriors.

And according to David Pick -- who reports primarily on professional basketball outside the United States -- Steve Kerr and Kevin Durant reached out to Casspi.

Casspi, the 23rd pick in the 2009 draft, has eight years of NBA experience, which means his veteran minimum deal will pay him about $2.1 million.

Casspi's best season came in 2015-16 with the Kings, when he averaged 11.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 48 percent from the field and 41 percent from distance.

He is primarily a small forward, but could play power forward if Golden State elects to go small.
