SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants first base coach Roberto Kelly was transported to a hospital after he was struck in the head by a line drive during the club's workout Saturday at AT&T Park.
Kelly stayed down for several minutes behind second base after Buster Posey's shot struck him. Players and coaches gathered around, with some making the sign of the cross. A dazed Kelly walked slowly off the field, with his arms thrown over a trainer and a team doctor.
Kelly was conscious when he left the ballpark and initially diagnosed with a concussion. The Giants were preparing for Game 1 of their NL Championship Series Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
