That didn't take long.
The Giants recalled outfielder Austin Slater from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday for the three-game road series against the San Diego Padres, and he'll already start. In a corresponding move, the Giants sent Dereck Rodriguez to the River Cats.
The Padres plan to start lefty pitchers during the series, so the addition of Slater's right-handed bat seems to be the approach heading down south.

Alex Dickerson, who has thrived for the orange and black, will return to face his former team. He'll also returning to his hometown area, as he was raised in Poway, a San Diego suburb. He's been on a tear since joining the Giants, slashing .375/.444/.750 with two home runs and 12 RBI.
Jeff Samardzija will get starting honors for the Giants on Monday, and he's sensational against the Padres on their home turf. He has a 2.44 ERA with 50 strikeouts, compared to 13 walks, in 55.1 career innings at PETCO Park.
Logan Allen will start the Padres' trio of southpaws against the Giants. He's coming off a roller-coaster of an outing against the Baltimore Orioles last week. The rookie, across six frames, gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out five.
