Sharks forward Labanc suspended for slew footing Bozak

The NHL had not issued any kind of player discipline for slew footing since the 2015-16 season prior to Friday. Sharks forward Kevin Labanc has broken that streak, as he will miss the Sharks' game against the Washington Capitals after being issued a one-game suspension for slew footing St. Louis Blues center Tyler Bozak.

Labanc was given a two-minute tripping penalty after the play happened in the Sharks' 4-1 loss on Thursday.

The last suspension for slew footing was issued to Brad Marchand during the 2014-15 season.

Labanc will be eligible to return for Monday's home game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
