Report: 49ers working out edge rusher Ansah again Tuesday

With COVID-19 restrictions imposed on having large crowds, Week 1 will look different at Levi’s Stadium without any fans. Kyle Shanahan speaks with Greg Papa about motivating the 49ers without fans at the games.

The 49ers reportedly are scheduled to work out free-agent defensive end Ziggy Ansah for a second time this summer.

Ansah will be in the Bay Area on Sunday for COVID-19 testing with a workout planned for Tuesday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday.

It is not known if the 49ers are looking at Ansah for the 53-man roster or the team's 16-player practice squad

The 49ers currently have nine defensive linemen on their active roster. Kerry Hyder is the only backup edge rusher for nickel downs behind Nick Bosa and Dee Ford.

Veteran Dion Jordan has a spot on the team's practice squad.

Ansah, 31, has a history with 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek while both were with the Detroit Lions. In 91 career games, Ansah has registered 50.5 sacks since entering the league in 2013.
